好壮观---加拿大联邦大桥

<>    这座桥名为联邦大桥，英文名为Confederation Bridge，桥在加拿大，是连接爱德华王子岛 (Prince Edward Island)与新伯伦瑞克省(New Brunswick)之间的桥梁。</P>
<>    爱德华王子岛位在加拿大东岸，是加拿大本土之外悬于海上的孤岛，有「波浪中的摇篮」之名，也是加拿大最小的省份；在联邦大桥完成之前，除了飞机，爱德华王子岛只能靠渡轮与外界联系，跨海大桥完工之后，交通更频繁方便，也带动了这座小岛的经济发展，创造更多来自观光及农产品的收益。爱德华王子岛是以农业为主的小岛，但做事却极有远见与气魄，为了克服交通的问题，有人提出建海底铁路隧道的构想，有人则提出跨海大桥，最后当然是跨海大桥的意见胜出，不过，当小岛上的府会提出这个大胆的构想时，对岸的新伯伦瑞克省反而却步，认为困难度太高，很难实现，不过，爱德华王子岛并没有放弃，克服了一切的困难；这座大桥在1993年动工，1997年完工通车，全长近13公里(8 miles)为两线道的快速道路，速限80公里，使用了65个桥墩，为了让船只通过，水面与桥面的距离特别设拉高到61公尺(200 feet)，为了减少潮水和风的冲击力，还设计了3个转折弯道，因此联邦大桥并非笔直地横跨在海上。</P>

30多公里长！世界上第一和第二的跨海大桥都在这附近造呢！第一长的是杭州湾大桥，是从嘉兴乍浦到宁波余姚。第二长的是上海到嵊泗列岛的跨海大桥。
